Intuitive Media is delighted and honoured to welcome Professor Martyn Wild as IM's new Regional Director Australia-Pacific.
Professor Wild is a very rare animal indeed - as Professor at La Trobe University, Melborne and Associate Professor at Edith Cowan University, Perth, he is an academic researcher with an exemplarary track record in the field of ICT in education who also combines deep understanding of the practicalities of teaching and learning and has a highly refined grasp of the commercial realities of developing and running ICT projects and companies in Australia and the UK.
Robert Hart, Strategic Director of Intuitive Media says: “I've known Martyn since his days as a adviser in educational computing in England. Martyn has the rare combination of a rigorous and thoughtful academic approach, enlighted by a keen creative intelligence and a realistic appreciation of commercial realities and opportunities."
Martyn worked as a teacher and then as government Advisor in the UK; and most recently, as Founding Director of Best English, a $15m start-up elearning business with an offshore focus, funded by the Adult Multicultural Education Service, Melbourne (Australia).
Prior to this Martyn was a senior academic with a research and teaching expertise in elearning, first at Exeter University and then at Edith Cowan University, in Perth, Australia. For the last 5 years of his tenure at Edith Cowan University, he was consistently in the ‘top 10’ researchers, measured by both research ‘outputs’ (refereed publications) and ‘inputs’ (external funding). Martyn continues to serve on the editorial and/or review boards of 5 major international journals and enjoys a well-deserved international reputation for his work in elearning design.
In 2005 Martyn made a commitment to help develop Intuitive Media’s learning communities in Australia and elsewhere in Asia. Martyn wanted to build on IM's success in the UK and bring protected learning communities to children and teachers in Australia and the Pacific Rim.
Thanks to his dedication, drive and vision and tireless efforts, Intuitive Media successfully launched its communities in Australia in January 2008 and is already building a very strong following.
