Prof. Heppell Joins IM
Intuitive Media now has a new champion for its New Generation Learning Community. Professor Stephen Heppell, world-renowned expert in online education announces this week that he is joining the Board of Intuitive Media.

"I have been working with IM's founders, Robert Hart and Carole Fletcher for over 30 years and there is no one on this planet more capable of creating delightful, engaging and safe learning experiences for children.

Over the last 10 years IM's learning communities SchoolNetGlobal, SuperClubsPLUS and GoldStarCafe have served over one million school children and not one single child has been hurt - no one has such an admirable record of child safety.

SuperClubsPLUS and GoldStarCafe are uniquely established, proven, wonderfully safe social learning networks for school and home. They are delightful, engaging and highly motivating places for playful learning, where children choose to follow their interests and volunteer to take up learning challenges. No wonder they have been approved and championed by over 21,000 teachers and a whole generation of children round the world." - Prof. Stephen Heppell

The current and future challenge for the education system and for schools is to relate to the bulk of children's learning, which is informal, voluntary, driven by their playfulness and curiosity and their need for social connection, experimentation, creative expression and growth in personal competence.

Most of children's learning is inaccessible to teachers and schools, as it happens outside school hours and school terms - in the family, in the community, in the street, in the park, in the car, on the beach, through the TV, the games console, the Internet. Informal learning is mostly unseen, unrecognized and unrewarded by schools, who find it difficult to monitor, assess and record and to relate to formal curriculum requirements.

Intuitive Media‘s SuperClubsPLUS-2010 is a New Generation Learning Community - based on SuperClubsPLUS - the established safe social learning network used by teachers and children across the UK. Australia and around the world, that stimulates, supports, recognizes and rewards children's informal and voluntary learning in a social, creative, exploratory and playful environment.

SuperClubsPLUS-2010 new Teacher Tools gives teachers the Learning Platform-like functionality they need to relate children's informal learning to formal education requirements. Through SCP-2010, teachers can now stimulate, support, monitor, assess, record and reward children's formal and informal learning whether it happens in school, at home, in their communities or anywhere they can access a computer or a mobile device.

It is altogether a huge leap forward for education...

"Intuitive Media wants to build on their pioneering success and I want to help them do that - developing their New Generation Learning Communities for schools, home and communities, taking them into the home and into new territories."- Prof. Stephen Heppell

IM with it’s new champion takes the future of education seriously by responding to the growing needs of children and in 2010 launched its new generation social learning network to a new generation of learners.
