Safe Social Learning Networks

“I don’t know of anybody else, anywhere in the world who have more experience of building seductive, engaging, delightful online spaces for children’s learning than the team at Intuitive Media.” Professor Stephen Heppell”
SuperClubsPLUS (Primary), GoldStarCafe (Secondary) and SchoolNet Global are safe social learning networks for children and their teachers from across the UK and overseas. Children can create, communicate, collaborate and learn with friends around the world.

Safe
Intuitive Media rigourously validates all members through their schools. Professional mediators monitor all communication and content and constantly watch out for your children and keep them safe. Intuitive Media works closely with CEOP and ChildNet-International to make sure everyone is as safe as possible.
NEW! UK Academies Project
The Specialist Schools & Academies Trust and Intuitive Media (IM) are offering UK academies the chance to develop projects inside GoldStarCafe the new UK-wide Safe Social Learning Network for secondary students and their teachers, with a special SSAT discount.

IM enables a safe social networking environment and provides an opportunity for single academies or small networks of academies to run projects with a focus on cross-academy working, personalizing learning, student voice, international links, identity and diversity, community cohesion or global issues.

Social Learning
The communities are available from breakfast to bedtime - on school and home computers and mobile devices, so it’s non-stop learning for your children at school and at home. Children from different backgrounds and cultures keep in touch with friends, share interests and help each other. The home-school projects help parents get involved with their children’s school work. The communities are ideal for elective home education.
“You just log in and before so long some people start emailing you, safely of course, and you will soon find yourself making loads of new friends. There is always someone that shares your loves and talents whatever it might be.” - Charlie,13
Creative Learning
In the communities children learn by experience. Here are just a few of the things they can do in their safe personal online learning spaces:
    Communicate
  • Email - build friendships around the world
  • Forums - discuss global issues, current affairs, children’s concerns and school work

    Create
  • Home Pages - build secure personal websites (with their own words, images and sounds and content from the huge Media Library)
  • Project Pages - create pages dedicated to school projects

    Collaborate & contribute
  • Webrings - join shared interest groups
  • Clubs and Zines - read and write for online magazines
  • School Pages - contribute to collaborative school projects
  • Student Voice - share their thoughts in research projects
  • Events - meet famous authors and people from other countries
  • SchoolNet Global - publish online magazines
Personalised Learning
The children join learning projects and events such as: a discussion on global issues in the One World Zone; a writing club with a popular author; a Hot Seat with an athlete; an interview with Anne Frank or a Maths fun day. There’s something for every child as they follow their own interests and work at their own pace and level.

Independent research proves that SuperClubsPLUS, GoldStarCafe and SchoolNet Global support personalised learning across the curriculum and help raise standards - especially with the STARS and GEMS Award Schemes. Children extend their Literacy, ICT, ESafety, Design and Citizenship skills. Their achievements are rewarded with community credits to exchange for additional features.

Networks
You can join this fast-growing network of over 120,000 learners and 14,000 teachers in 200 local authorities across the UK and schools in over 40 countries. SuperClubsPLUS Australia brings over 40,000 new members with more countries to follow.

Teachers can join the international, collaborative projects supported by BBC World Class and DCSF. We’ll link you with a partner school and help you work towards your British Council International School Award and the International Partners target.
GoldStarCafe opens up all the benefits of social networking but without the dangers. All members are strictly validated and all communications are professionally mediated. The community is dedicated to learning. It’s a place where your students can be self-expressed and have a voice, where they can work creatively in school and at home, at their own level and their own pace.
